What We Are Celebrating

When Primavera School was founded in 1972, the teachers and Board of Directors unanimously chose the Penguin to be our mascot. Once a Penguin, always a Penguin! Case in point: There is a story about the flightless fairy penguins of Australia who stand less than a foot tall and are clumsy on land, where the fox is its natural enemy. Alone, one penguin wouldn’t survive for long. So, after each day swimming in the water, they gather together where the surf meets the shore, waiting until the last penguin joins them.  Then, shoulder to shoulder, they march up the beach to their burrows where they are safe from the fox. They support each other. They rely on each other. And everyone, except of course for the fox, is a winner! That’s exactly how our Primavera Penguins move to the next school and the next stages of their lives! They hold on to one another and to the good memories of this very special Primavera community. Primavera Penguins have grit, strength and determination, a caring concern for others, confidence to achieve their potential, and are not afraid of challenges.
