Board of Directors
Primavera School is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, under the laws of the state of Arizona.
Cliff Petrovsky
Board of Directors President
What a great school Primavera is. My daughter attended Primavera Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, and I look back on those days as a great time in her life. I moved back to Prescott 13 years ago, primarily for its small-town values. Primavera sure does prepare your kids for life. All of my daughter’s 13 classmates have graduated from Primavera, and moved on to Mile High Middle School. All of them have consistently made the honor roll at Mile High, and all are involved in extra-curricular activities. As your Primavera Board President, I lead a dynamic and dedicated working Board, which is undertaking the task of improving the school curriculum, fundraising and special projects, one example of which is our Primavera School Leaf Shade Structure. I encourage you to get involved. Feel free to call me any time. I can always be reached at 899-1275.
Ben Zovod
Board of Directors Vice President Since 2009
I have been on Primavera’s board of director for three years. My son is in his 4th year attending Primavera. My family and I moved to Prescott from San Francisco five years ago and were so happy to learn about Primavera School. Over the last three years on the Primavera board, I have used my background in research to help the school develop new family surveys and have worked with the teachers to ensure they are getting the support they need to effectively run their classrooms. It has been my honor and privilege to work with the staff at Primavera, all the current and previous board members and to get to know so many wonderful Primavera families.
Leslie Costes
Board of Directors Secretary Since 2010
I am the Mom of three boys, two of which currently attend Primavera. We have been at Primavera for five years and feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful school family. This is my second year serving on Primavera’s Board of Directors. It’s such a privilege to be part of our school community and see it continue to evolve into a better place for our children.
Amy Jaspers
Board of Directors Treasurer Since 1986
I have worn many hats in my connection to Primavera School, beginning as a preschool and kindergarten parent in 1986, continuing to this day as alumni parent and Board member. We chose Primavera because we believed that our children needed a strong educational foundation in their early years for academic success later on. They received so much more than that at Primavera and I know their years at the school helped them grow into the unique individuals they are today. I remain committed as a Board member because I want to assure that other children continue to have the opportunities our own children enjoyed. My background as a CPA has led me to serve as Treasurer on the Board but it is my personal experience as a grateful parent that binds me to Primavera School.

Board Member since 1993
We moved to Prescott in 1985 and found Primavera for our daughter, Lana, when she was two years old. My husband and I wanted to find a school where she would thrive and acheive her full potential.
Shortly after Lana started preschool, my husband died from cancer and we were left alone, far away from family and good friends. At that point, Primavera school became our family. The environment was positive and supportive, exactly what we needed. We formed a strong bond with the other families and staff. In fact, we all loved the school so much that we wanted to stay beyond the fourth grade, which was the highest grade at Primavera at the time. So, Carol Darrow, the Board and parents decided we should have a fifth grade. Carol hired a contractor, and we built a classroom together with our very own hands.
Today my daughter is a happy, confident and successful woman with a career in health care. We will be forever grateful for how Primavera School helped her to be the person she is today.

Board Member since 2011
I was born and raised in gore-tex in rainy Portland, Oregon – moving to the shockingly sunny environment of Arizona in 2008. I am married to a charming Aviation geek named Bryan. We live in Prescott with our daughter Murphy who has attended Preschool and Pre-Kindergarden at Primavera. I attended University of Oregon and Warner Pacific College, graduating with a degree in business. I rode the Portland-based tech-wave into IT trade shows, corporate events and national CIO, Fortune 500-branded conferences. If I had to fill out a questionnaire about my hobbies, it would look something like: scuba diving, cheering for the U of O Ducks football, eating oysters, feeding my iPad (or iPhone or iPod) addiction, reading culinary school books and watching television that excels at being really, really awful.

Board of Directors: Staff Representative
I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Primavera School as well as a mother of two wonderful children. Meghann attends Mile High Middle School, and Alexander is in Primavera’s 4th-5th grade with Pamela Brown. This year I am pleased to have the opportunity to represent our staff to the Board of Directors. I have lived in Prescott, Arizona since 1986 and have enjoyed learning about and being a part of the rich history of Prescott and the surrounding areas. I have been employed at Primavera School since 2002 and have worked in afterschool, early childhood, classroom teaching and teaching Spanish throughout all the grade levels. I have really enjoyed experiencing Primavera both as a teacher and as a Primavera parent.

I grew up in Seattle, WA and moved to Prescott via Chicago, IL over 8 years ago. In starting our family it was important to my husband and I to raise our children in a small town away from the hustle and bustle of a large city. Our children have attended Primavera for the past 5 years and are enjoying everthing the school has to offer from small class size, individualized academic instruction and extra-curricular activities. The small class sizes have enabled the staff at the school to focus in on each child’s strengths and abilities and to foster the “whole-child” philosphy within the academic and social environment. In watching our children develop over the years, we are very fortunate to become part of the Primavera community. The staff have been extremely pivital in promoting the people our children have become today in addition to providing them the foundation they need for the future ahead. Their open door policy has allowed me to volunteer in the classroom and experience first hand each childs experiences. I bring these experiences to the board and hope to expand, promote and foster Primavera’s whole child philosophy for the future.

I am new to the Board this year but a long-time Primavera parent. I have two boys, one in his 8th and final year (5th grade), and another who is currently in Kindergarden. My family has lived in the Prescott community for over 11 years now. Like many in this area, we moved from the greater Phoenix area for an opportunity to raise our children in a smaller, less hectic and closer knit environment. Primavera has been the perfect complement to these values. I am a local attorney and small business person so I value the importance of one’s reputation and the need to maintain integrity. While serving on the Board, I hope to be able to help usher Primavera into its 40th year in this community and assist it in maintaining its positive and highly regarded image in our community.

Board Member since 2000
I have been part of the Primavera family for the last 17 years. I enrolled my first child in pre-school in 1995 and am now seeing the 4th child attend 4th grade. All 4 of the children have gone on to be successful, confident people and attribute the solid years at Primavera for giving them the foundation they needed to reach their goals.
I have been serving on the Board of Directors for 11 years. It has been an important and satisfying experience. The Board has always had the purpose to improve the level of professionalism. By applying “best practices” we have tried to guide our schools direction and growth to be the outstanding school that it is. Major decisions are discussed, debated and finally decided keeping the teachers and students well-being in mind. Primavera teaches to the whole child and often to the whole family.

I’m an Arizona native and grew up in beautiful Flagstaff. After spending many years away in Tucson and Dallas my husband Ben and I decided to move a little closer to home, start a family and start a business. We are so happy to call Prescott home, mainly because of the wonderful community of friends that surround us! Primavera has been part of our community long before our daughter Elyse began Preschool. It seems that ever since we landed in Prescott we have heard such amazing things about this little school off Copper Basin Road called Primavera. I think we’ve known since birth that Elyse would attend Primavera! We are so thankful for her wonderful teachers and happy to be part of the Primavera Family.
There are no owners of the corporation; rather, the school is governed by a Board of Directors, the majority of whom are parents and former parents of Primavera students. The Board of Directors upholds the school’s By-Laws and mission statement, ensures that the school is properly managed, and actively participates in generating the necessary funding to meet the annual goals and objectives of the school.
Board members formulate the organization’s long-range goals and direction and make policy in such areas as finance, personnel, legal issues, and operating procedures. Board members interpret the organization to the community at large and are expected to attend board meetings once a month on a regular basis.
The Board members also recruit, hire, and evaluate the Director. The Director is charged with managing the daily operations of the school.
Currently there are 11 board members, including a staff representative to the board. Anyone who is interested in promoting the mission of Primavera School may become a member of the Board of Directors with a majority vote of the members at the annual meeting in May. Others may choose to serve on one of the board’s sub-committee prior to joining the board.
The sub-committees of the Board are: the Fundraising committee, Marketing/Development committee, Curriculum and Personnel support committee, and the Finance Committee.
As a non-profit, 501 (c) (3), corporation, Primavera School, Inc. operates in a non-discriminatory manner; and therefore, will not discriminate against staff, administrators, or students and their families on the basis of age, sex, race, special needs, sexual orientation, religion, color, or national and ethnic origin.
